Many of you have already created your New Year’s Resolutions (and most likely already break them). The key to staying consistent with these resolutions is to make them as realistic as possible. Improving one’s well-being is important in any lifestyle. Here are some quick tips on having a happier and mentally healthier new year!

  1. Learn to say no. We often get ourselves stuck into old patterns of guilt and shame when we are forced to see people we don’t want to see. Saying “No” is empowering and helps us be comfortable with our true, authentic selves.
  2. Evaluate your core beliefs. Reflect on the person you are. Accept your flaws because if you won’t then no one else will. Take a look at what you value in yourself and in the people around you. Values constantly change and it’s ok if they do.
  3. Invest your energy in the present. I cannot stress enough how important it is to be in the present. “This year went by fast”. Yeah, you know why? Because you didn’t fully live in it. When you are present you appreciate and accept every life event coming your way. You feel prepared.
  4. Enjoy Alone Time. IT’S OK TO BE ALONE. It’s actually quite nice. It gives you free time to sit in your jammies or your underwear and watch mindless Netflix shows. Enjoy the time you have with yourself!
  5. Embrace Change. “A New Year, a new me” is what everyone always says during the New Year. Well… Let’s embrace change for once! Let’s allow ourselves to be confident in the change that is thrown at us. Change = growth.
  6. Be Kind. Be kind to yourself and others. You never know what other people are going through in their life. Would you want someone to judge you? No… So don’t judge them. Simple as that.
  7. Celebrate the Success of Others. Being happy for others can motivate you to become more successful. Hey, when you have successful friends that tells you a lot about you. You have it in you to become successful. Also, don’t be afraid to ask about how they got to where they are. They are your friends after all!

There are so many New Year’s resolutions being made right now and so many to be broken tomorrow. Invest in yourself and practice loving yourself and others. The good energy will come to you. The prosperity might already be there… Depending on how you look at it.
