The best way to start off the new year? Start being grateful! Don’t say, “I’m grateful for my Netflix” out loud to yourself. Write it down. Write down at least 5 things a day you are grateful for.

Today, I am grateful for:

1. Having dinner with my best friend

2. Talking to my family

3. Going to the gym!

4. Having some self-reflection time

5. Planning a trip!

So, what’s the point? How will this make me well? The answer is: when you write down what you are grateful for then you are more likely to remember it on a daily basis.

When was the last time something awesome happened to you when you were a mopy, hot mess? Now, when was the last time something awesome happened when you were ecstatic and positive? When it rains it pours! We attract more negativity when we are upset.  Yet, when we radiate positive energy we will be more willing to receive better things in life. The best way to accept more positive energy and to take a small step to live a happy life is to start a gratitude journal. Oprah did it. Deepak Chopra did it. I did it. It works.

For the last few months I have been writing down 5-7 things I am grateful for (depending on my mood). I usually like to do it before I sleep, but you can choose anytime that is convenient for you. It’s easy and simple. What do you have to lose? You can even try it for 7 days and see if it makes a difference for you or not. Test it out. The only thing you have to lose is negativity. The only thing you have to gain is a happy life, positivity, gratitude, etc. Sounds like a good deal right?

P.S.
